Snowbird vehicle relocation

We drive.
You fly.

A vetted, background-checked driver picks up your car at your driveway — packed with a season's worth of belongings — and delivers it to your Florida driveway with a full tank. On the exact day you choose.

How it works

Four steps. Zero highway miles for you.

STEP 1

Book your exact date

No 5-day pickup windows. Pick the day; we're in your driveway that morning.

STEP 2

Pack the car, hand the keys

Fill it with clothes, golf clubs, the dog bed. Hand it over with a full tank and we document the car together.

STEP 3

Your driver heads south

One professional driver, two days down I-75 or I-95 depending on your route, with a text and GPS check-in at every stop.

STEP 4

Delivered to your driveway

Full tank, walk-around photos, keys in your hand. We fly home — you're already there.

Why trust us with your keys

Founded by someone who spent a career vetting people.

Drive2FL was founded by a retired federal law enforcement officer with 24 years of service. Handing a stranger your car keys — and often your garage code — is a matter of trust, and trust is the part of this business our founder takes personally. Every driver is screened the way a career in federal service taught us to screen: full criminal background check, motor vehicle record review, insurance approval, and a personal interview before they ever touch a customer's vehicle.

Driven vs. loaded on a trailer

Why snowbirds choose a driver

Drive2FL — your car, driven

  • Pack your belongings — fill the trunk and back seat
  • Exact-day, exact-hour pickup at your front door
  • 2 days in transit with GPS check-ins from one vetted driver
  • No open-deck exposure, ramps, or tie-downs
  • Delivered with a full tank and a signed condition report

Typical trailer shipping

  • Belongings prohibited or limited in the vehicle
  • 3–5 day pickup windows, longer waits in peak season
  • 2–8 days on a multi-car load, carrier assigned by a broker
  • Meet the truck at a lot or wide street — not your driveway
  • Peak-season pricing often $1,100–$1,600+ anyway

Good to know: our service adds the route's road miles to your odometer — that's why we ask that vehicles be 7 model years or newer with under 100,000 miles, fully serviced, and road-ready. It's a service for cars that are meant to be driven.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I really pack my belongings in the car?

Yes — that's one of the biggest reasons snowbirds choose a driver over a trailer. Fill the trunk and back seat with clothes, golf clubs, pet gear, whatever the season needs. We just ask that everything be packed securely and kept below the window line so your driver has full visibility.

Who will be driving my car?

One professional driver for the entire trip — screened, background-checked, with a clean motor vehicle record. You'll have your driver's name before pickup, you'll meet them at your door, and the same person hands you the keys in Florida. Your car is never on a multi-car load or passed between carriers.

How can I follow the trip?

You'll get a text with a photo and location at every fuel stop and the overnight stop, plus a live GPS tracking link so you can watch your car head south in real time. A GPS device also rides in the vehicle for the whole trip.

Is my car covered while it's in your care?

Yes. The vehicle is covered under our commercial policy while in transit, in addition to your own insurance. We also complete a signed, photographed condition report with you at pickup and again at delivery, so the car's condition is documented at both ends of every trip.

What's included in the price?

Your driver, every fuel stop along the route, and all trip logistics — you hand us the car with a full tank, and we hand it back the same way. Tolls bill to your own transponder or license plate exactly as they would if you drove — nothing extra from us. The only add-ons are a $100–150 surcharge for full-size SUVs and pickups, and a flat $75 for homes 25–50 miles from a listed airport. No surprises at delivery.

What are the vehicle requirements?

Vehicles must be 7 model years or newer, have under 100,000 miles, be fully serviced, and be ready for a highway trip. This service adds the route's road miles to your odometer — it's built for cars that are meant to be driven, which is also what keeps the trip safe and on schedule.

How does payment work?

A 50% deposit reserves your exact date. The remaining balance is due at pickup — once you and your driver have walked around the car and signed the condition report together, and before the trip begins. Nothing is owed at delivery: in Florida, it's just keys, a full tank, and a handshake.

Should I leave my toll transponder in the car?

Yes, please — if you have an E-ZPass or SunPass, leave it mounted and tolls run at your discounted account rates, just like any other drive. If you don't have one, tolls are billed by mail to you as the registered owner (toll-by-plate); those invoices carry small processing fees, so the transponder is the cheaper way to go.

Do you offer round trips?

Yes — down in the fall, back in the spring, with package pricing for booking both legs at once. Choose "Round trip" on the quote form and we'll price both directions together.

Can a passenger or pet ride along with the driver?

No — for insurance and safety, your driver travels alone. Pet beds, crates, and supplies are welcome as packed belongings, but every seat except the driver's stays empty for the whole trip.

About the service

A snowbird car delivery service — the alternative to auto transport

Drive2FL is a driveaway service for snowbirds: instead of shipping your car to Florida on a trailer, you hire a professional driver to drive your own car door-to-door while you fly. We serve the routes snowbirds actually travel — New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Cincinnati, Louisville, and Lexington down to Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Naples, Punta Gorda, and communities across Southwest Florida — southbound each fall and back north every spring.

Compared with traditional car shipping or auto transport companies, a driven delivery means your vehicle arrives packed with your belongings, on the exact day you choose, at your own driveway — no carrier windows, no meeting a semi in a parking lot, no open-trailer exposure. Every trip is handled by one background-checked driver, GPS-tracked from pickup to delivery, and documented with signed condition reports at both ends.

If you've been searching for someone to drive your car to Florida — or back home again — our rates are published right on this page, and a quote for your exact addresses takes one minute.
